What I'm Watchin Wednesday: O.J. Simpson

I was absolutely obsessed with the O.J. Simpson trial.  Why would 15 year old me care about this trial?  That summer nothing else was on the TV.  My soap (Guiding Light) was preempted by the trial.  I can so vividly remember being in our kitchen making lunch and watching the trial on our tiny antenna TV.

The night of the famous Bronco chase?  I remember it like it was yesterday.  It was a Friday night.  I was pouting about something upstairs in my room.  (After slamming the door, I'm sure.)  Mom came up and consoled me.  Told me to come downstairs.  She had ordered pizza for dinner and there was a police chase on TV I should come watch.  O.J. Simpson was on the run. O.J. who?  I had no idea who he was at the time but I learned pretty quickly.

Do I think he did it?  Absolutely yes!  Why?  Because the evidence is there.  His blood was at the crime scene.  It all points to him.  Who else did it?  Who else?  He had a bad temper and I think that got the best of him.  I think he went over to try and talk to Nicole and he thought Ron was her new lover.  His temper got the best of him and he killed them.  I think he convinced himself and others that he didn't do it.  And still to this day I can't believe he got away with it.

**Dear Kitty.  If you ever read the Diary of Anne Frank, she always wrote Dear Kitty in all her entries.  It was the name she gave her diary.  She wrote it as if she was talking to a friend.  I was obsessed with Anne Frank and learning all about the Holocaust.  Thanks to my 8th grade English teacher, Mr. Ford!

Well O.J. was convicted not guilty!  We all know that deep down.  So O.J. got off the hook.  We all know that deep down he did it and when he does it again we will know he did it.  Stars always get off.

When I heard about the show, The People vs. O.J. Simpson, you know I added it to my DVR immediately.  It is a 10 part series that takes you from the night the murders happened, to when O.J. came home after the verdict.  This is by far one of the best mini series I have ever watched.  The cast was amazing!  Not only in the acting but they looked exactly like the real characters.  Cuban Gooding as O.J., Sarah Paulson as Marcia Clark, John Travolta as Robert Shapiro, Nathan Lane as Lee Bailey, David Schwimmer as Robert Kardashian.  Just to name a few.  Just outstanding.  I learned details about the case I didn't pick up on the first time around.  Like O.J. flew to Chicago after the murders occurred. I also learned he had written a suicide note before he went on the Bronco chase.  If you need something to watch this summer, please check this series out.  It is available on Amazon.

I just finished watching another series O.J.: Made in America.  It is a 5 part ESPN series that can be found On Demand.  I will be the first to admit I am not a big sports fan.  I don't really understand football.  My Dad told me O.J. was one of the best football players of all time.  After watching the series, wow.  I had no idea.  His 'good' stardom was before my time.  I have to admit, I am impressed.  And on top of football, he was a track star as well.  What can't he do?!

Every time I watch these shows about O.J., I keep thinking the verdict will change.  He will be found guilty.  He won't get away with it.  But he does.  It is a little funny that he is sitting in jail now for attempting to rob someone in a Vegas hotel.  Trying to steal O.J. memorabilia from a dealer.  Not too smart.  That is karma for you.

Why do I think he is guilty?  The overwhelming amount of evidence against him.  O.J.'s blood at the crime scene, Nicole and Ron's blood at O.J.'s house, in his Bronco, and the infamous glove.  His lawyers somehow charmed the jury enough to see right past the evidence.  Even the terrible domestic abuse between Nicole and O.J. is proof enough for me.

I ask you, if he didn't do it........who did?  Where is this person?  Why have they never been caught?  I truly believe O.J. was able to convince himself that he didn't do it and those around him.  He has some kind of mental illness that can just block out what he did.  Just like when he would abuse Nicole.  He would just black out and become someone else.

In all of this, we need to remember the families of Nicole Simpson and Ron Goldman.  They are the ones who have really suffered in all of this.  They don't have the answers and justice they need.  They will never be able to find peace.  Nicole's children grew up without their Mom.  Ron never got to see his family again.  That is the real tragedy.

What I'm Watchin Wednesday

It is no secret that I am TV junkie.  Some would say I am a little too obsessed with my DVR and the settings.  (I just like things organized, ok?!)  When I moved this spring and had my cable switched, I got a new DVR that can record up to 6 things at once.  My life was forever changed and I ain't never going back!  (Don't worry it is very rare that I record 6 things at once.)  I thought it would be fun to review some of the new shows out this fall that I am watching.

1.  Code Black.  Wednesdays at 10pm on CBS.  By far right now this is my favorite new show.  It reminds me of ER mixed with Grey's Anatomy.  But with a little bit more of an edge.  Don't know what Code Black stands for?  Me either and I have worked in a hospital!  Each episode starts out with, "Code Black:  An influx of patients so great, there aren't enough resources to treat them.  The average ER is in code black 5 times per year.  Angels Memorial Hospital in LA is in code black 300 times per year."  The show stars Marcia Gay Harden who is one of the head doctors of the ER.  She is in charge of teaching the young new batch of interns.  They also refer to her as 'Daddy', Mama is the head nurse (Luis Guzman).  They have great chemistry together.  I sure hope this one makes it because I really enjoy it.

2.  Quantico.  Sundays at 10pm on ABC.  This one is almost a close tie for first place in my favorite new shows.  I didn't start watching it at the beginning.  Some friends on Facebook and co-workers were talking about it.  I thought I would give it a try.  Thanks to on demand, I got caught up quick.  The plot is about Alex Parrish who is training to become a FBI agent.  It flashes back and forth between her training 9 months ago, to present day when she is being framed for blowing up Grand Central Station.  I like it because it keeps you guessing.  I am not able to always able to predict what is going to happen next.  We learn about all the other FBI recruits and their background stories.  I didn't realize all that went into training for the FBI.  It seems just as intense as the armed forces.

3.  Life in Pieces.  Mondays at 8:30pm (moving to Thursdays) on CBS.  This is such a spin off of Modern Family.  It is hysterical though!  I like it because it pushes the adult humor in a way no other sitcom does.  They typically do 3-4 short stories in the 30 minutes.  The scene stealers are Colin Hanks and Zoe Lister-Jones.  They have a newborn at home and the stories are so real and hilarious.  You need to check this one out!  (No Mom not you.  Not your kind of sense of humor.)

4.  Scream Queens.  Tuesdays at 9pm on FOX.  I gave into all the hype of this one.  Everyone was talking about it and I thought I would give it a try.  I had absolutely no idea what it was even about.  It is satire at it's finest.  Like a mix of all the Scary Movies, thrown in with some sorority girls.  (If you aren't familiar with the Scary Movie franchise, they are movies based on real scary movies but they make fun of them.  They aren't scary at all and very dumb/fun humor.)  Scream Queens has an all star cast that I won't list but my favorite is Jamie Lee Curtis.  (The woman hasn't aged a bit thanks to Activa!)  I love the clothes and all the props.  I am ready to be Chanel #7.  I can't figure out who the Red Devil is.  Whodunit?

5.  Heroes Reborn.  Thursdays at 8pm on NBC.  I watched Heroes the first time around.  (2006-2010)  I will be honest.  I've slept since then.  I am having a hard time remembering what happened.  Thankfully I watch this one with my friend Lee.  He explains things for me.  (Ha-ha!)  It is only a 13 episode mini series.  It is good to see some familiar faces and catch up on their lives.  It has a completely different plot line than the original series.  The Evos (people with special powers) are no longer a secret.  A company is working to capture all of the Evos so they can create apps out of all their powers.  (So modern day!)  I would love to have an app that let's me time travel!

6.  Blood and Oil.  Sundays at 9pm on ABC.  This one reminds me of Dallas.  Which I watched the original version and the reboot they did last year.  Only difference is this is set in North Dakota.  Oil business is booming in this small town.  Shows a young couple who leaves their lives behind in hopes of finding big money overnight.  Which of course they do.  (I'm still scratching my head on that one.)  Same plots of Dallas with family fighting and everyone trying to get a piece of the pie.  This isn't really one of my favorites but I'm still watching.  It has a strong cast with Don Johnson, Chace Crawford, and Scott Michael Foster.  (Not hard on my eyes either!)  I give it 2 seasons max.


Shows I watched only once:
Dr. Ken.  I thought this one had potential but it was painful to watch.  It is starring that guy from The Hangover movies (should have been my first sign it was going to be bad.)  It is just really bad/awkward acting.  The jokes are kind of funny but the timing is all wrong and seems too forced.  I could have kept watching it but I could just foresee it wasn't going to make a full season.  Plus it airs on Friday nights, and those shows never last.

Crazy Ex-Girlfriend.  I would still like the hour back I spent watching this.  It was HORRIBLE.  HORRIBLE!  Do you hear me?  HORRIBLE!!!  I can't believe they aired a second episode of this one.  Story-line was terrible.  There is odd singing and dancing.  Plot is a young, successful lawyer gets partnership at a prestigious law firm in NYC.  She runs into her boyfriend from summer camp and decides to move to California to some dumpy little town to be with/stalk him.  Turns out he already has a girlfriend......  It is just really strange and DUMB!

What I'm Watchin Wednesday: Wentworth

Hello!  And welcome to another episode of 'What I'm Watchin Wednesday!'  As I have predicted in a previous blog post, my Netflix subscription has turned into an addiction.  I have been binge watching lately.  (My poor DVR is backed up.)  After I finished up Orange is the New Black, I was having withdrawals!  When I was visiting my friend Ryan, he suggested I watch a show called Wentworth.

Haven't ever heard of Wentworth?  Well that could be because it is an Australian series.  Seems to have been a huge hit there and eventually found its way to Netflix.  While I am not familiar with the stars of the show, I have to tell you the acting is fantastic.  Just amazing.  Wentworth was produced and aired long before Orange is the New Black came on the scene.  I will tell you that there are a lot of similarities between the two shows.  (Guess it goes to show the same drama happens in prisons all over the world.)  Wentworth is a little more gritty and hardcore.  (By that I mean more fighting, blood, guts.)  It shows more of what happens with the family and friends who are on the outside.  Goes more in depth with the guards (screws as the prisoners call them). 

Bea Smith (aka Red) is sent to prison for attempting to murder her abusive husband.  She soon learns that prison is nothing like she expected and there is a divide amongst the inmates.  It is all about whose group you belong to.  Bea begins to make friends and enemies pretty quickly.  Just because these ladies are locked up, doesn't mean they don't have connections to the outside world.  They are able to make things happen that turn Bea's world upside.  She goes from being the good girl to one tough cookie.  Without giving too much away, let me just say the last 2 episodes of season 2 had me on the edge of my seat.  Can't wait for season 3!

If I start talking with an Australian accent and calling you mate, this is why :-)  Also, may I suggest you turn your closed caption option on your Netflix settings when viewing Wentworth.  Sometimes it does get hard to understand the accent when they are talking fast.

What I'm Watchin Wednesday: Netflix

Hello my name is Megan and I can't stop binge watching Netflix.  I haven't showered in 2 days.  I haven't left the apartment in a week.  I haven't seen another living human being in over 10 days.  My cats are feeling ignored and my dirty dishes are piling up. 

Gotcha!  Ha-Ha.  Actually none of that is true.  I'm taking a shower everyday and going to work.  I'm communicating with the outside world as much as I can stand.  I have however binge watched 2 series on Netflix in the past 2 days and feel kind of guilty.  (In my defense one of the series I had already watched half of at a friend's house.)  Luckily nothing is on the old TV right now as the summer season begins.  Although I did get sucked in to American Ninja Warrior last night.  Yelling at the TV at the stupid idiots who didn't make it past the first obstacle.  I mean how embarrassing for them!  (Again....self....really?!  I would like to see your fat bum try that.)

Back in the day when Netflix first came out, I was a member.  You know when they sent you the DVD and you had to send it back.  Well then I got poor and had to cut out expenses where I could.  And Netflix got all fancy and now you can just watch everything online.  My friends have had for years but I just couldn't cave in to signing up again.  (It isn't that expensive.  Just $8.99 month.  First month free!)  Deep down inside, I knew I couldn't control myself.  I love TV.  You know this about me.  Real Housewives of Anywhere, Big Brother, Grey's, Scandal, Good Wife, Chicago PD, Little Couple, Teen Mom, Tiny House Hunting, Chicago Fire.....the list goes on and on.  I love TV.  So the thought of being able to watch a whole season at once is pure happiness.  For the record I was right.  I couldn't control myself.

Netflix

First show I watched was the Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt.  I remember reading about this show last fall when it was going to be on a major network station.  It has a funny plot line about a young girl who is a 'mole woman' and lives in an underground bunker with a crazy religious man (Jon Hamm) and 3 other woman.  They are escaping what they believe is the apocalypse for 15 years.  Turns out there was no apocalypse and the women are finally rescued.  The series is about Kimmy (Ellie Kemper) and her life outside the bunker and everything she has missed in the last 15 years.  I know what you are thinking....sounds dumb.  But it is pretty funny.  Some great one liners and a super funny cast (Jane Krakowski, Carol Kane, Tina Fey).  I don't think it would have survived on network TV.  On Netflix it seems to have been quite a hit.

Second show I watched was Grace and Frankie.  Starring Lily Tomlin and Jane Fonda.  I love Lily in all her classics.  I'm not a big Jane Fonda fan as she publicly didn't support the Vietnam War.  (That hits a nerve with me but that is for another blog.)  It is the story of 2 woman who try and survive after being dumped by their husbands of 40 years.  Turns out their husbands (Sam Waterston and Martin Sheen) are more than best friends/law partners.  They have fallen in love with each other and are leaving their wives to marry each other.  Grace and Frankie have never really gotten along but find themselves leaning on each other for support.  I enjoyed this show more than I thought.  And so did everyone else as it has been picked up for a second season.

Next up for me?  Well on June 12 the third season of Orange is the New Black (OITNB for short) is released.  If you live under a rock and don't know about this show, you can check out my blog post here.  Let me just say that this show came out when me and my friends needed it the most.  I have a very close friend who has had to go through the justice system just like Piper in OITNB.  It came out when we all needed to be able to feel comfortable with it and learn to just laugh about it.  It is a very long story but just know that this show is not too far off from what really happens.  I can't wait for season 3!

Who are you wearing?

Two of my favorites.  Joan and Lucille Ball.  This was a #TBT Joan posted.

I would like to write a tribute to Joan Rivers.  As you know last week she passed away at the age of 81.    I was driving home to Ohio for the labor day weekend when I heard the news on the radio.  Joan was on life support after a minor surgery.  Over the weekend I checked the news regularly to see how she was doing.  I kept thinking....she will pull through.  When I heard she had been moved to a private room and made comfortable, I knew that was it.  As my Mom says, this is the best possible way she could go.  Hopefully she didn't know what was happening.  Joan just couldn't have handled a long term illness or being a burden on anyone.  She was just too full of life.

I didn't realize how much I admired and respected her until she was gone.  I watched her on all her shows (Joan and Melissa: Joan Knows Best, Fashion Police, Joan in Bed)  I rooted for Joan to win Celebrity Appreciate in 2009.  (Which she did!)  I remember watching her and Melissa in the earlier days working the red carpets.  She coined the phrase, "Who are you wearing?"  Joan always, always, always dressed to the nines every time she left the house.  She was a fashion icon.

It sure says something about Joan that we are shocked an 81 year old woman passed away.  She lived a very full life.  But she had so much more to do.  She was not even close to retiring or slowing down.  She built an empire with her QVC fashion and jewelry line.  She didn't send someone else to sell her line on air.  She was at QVC each and every single time.  Day or night.  She worked hard at everything she did.

Joan was an amazing comedienne.  She paved the way for many other female comediennes who dared to follow in her path.  She was a co-host with Johnny Carson on the Tonight Show.  After her 'falling out' with Johnny, she was banned from the Tonight Show.  That didn't stop Joan.  She had her own talk show that was pretty successful and last for several years.  But after her husband Edgar's tragic death, her show ended.  She coped with the tragedy of losing her husband with laughter.  It is how she was able to bounce back.  Her sense of humor isn't for everyone.  She said exactly what she thought and made no apologies.  Her favorite person to target in her jokes was herself.

On the Tonight Show with Johnny Carson

Joan on the Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon.  On his first night, she made an appearance lifting her 25 year ban from the show.  Jimmy, I always knew you were a classy guy.

Joan surrounded herself with an amazing group of family and friends.  I cannot even imagine what her daughter Melissa and grandson Cooper are going through.  They were very close.  Each summer she took Cooper on a 'Grandma Trip'.  They would take a vacation together.  This year they went to Italy.

Joan was also an animal lover.  About a year ago she lost her beloved rescue dog Max.  I'm telling you she did everything in her power to heal this pup.  She was heart broken at his passing.

I last saw Joan on Fashion Police as she reviewed the Emmy and MTV Video Music Awards red carpet outfits.  It is just so hard to believe that just a week later she was gone.

I hope Joan is in heaven now.....giving Edgar and Johnny hell.  As only Joan could do.

What I'm Watchin Wednesday: Big Brother 16

One of my guilty pleasures each summer is watching Big Brother.  I have watched all 16 seasons.  Okay I just aged myself!  Anyway I am so addicted.  I just discovered Big Brother After Dark on TVGN. 2-3 hours a night of watching the house guests do nothing?!  Now that is good TV.....hehe.

So if you aren't familiar with Big Brother let me give you a brief recap.  16 strangers enter a house equipped with lots of camera and microphones to film their every move 24/7.  Every week the house guests compete in several challenges.  The first is the HOH (head of household).  As HOH they nominate 2 people for eviction.  The second competition is the POV (power of veto).  In a POV competition, the HOH, 2 nominees, 3 random drawn house guests compete.  Whoever wins the POV then has the power to remove one of the nominees.  On Thursday they do a live show and house guests vote to evict one of the nominees.  Big Brother's motto is, "Expect the unexpected."  And yes there are a lot of twists in the game.

At the beginning of the season I always dislike everyone on there.  It always seems like everyone is young, beautiful, in great shape, and single.  Reminds me of MTV's Real World.  About mid-season I get into it more.  By the end I can't wait to find out who wins.  I have a love/hate relationship with Big Brother.  My Mom stopped watching the show many moons ago for these very reasons.

If you are not a Big Brother fan then I'm sure this blog post is boring.  If not I would love to hear what you think so far.  Here is what I think of the remaining 8 house guests.

Caleb:  Beast Mode Cowboy!  Goodness he is probably one of my favorites.  Not hard on the eyes either.  I think he may have a chance to make it to the final 3.  If he keeps his mouth shut.
Cody:  Also not hard on the eyes.  I think he is the biggest flirt in the house.  I do like Cody but haven't seen a lot of game playing from him.  He is a strong competitor in the competitions.  Everyone loves him.
Derrick:  I really like Derrick.  He acts like a respectable family man and cop.  He has played a really good game.  I would like to see him win and really think he has a chance.  He has befriended everyone in the house and he needs to be careful what he tells them.
Donny:  When I first saw Donny, I thought he would be gone week one.  I was wrong.  Donny is a huge Big Brother fan and he knows how to play this game.  He is a very likable guy.  I wish he would shave the beard just once! People don't give him enough credit.  He is well aware of what is going on in the house.
Frankie:  Some days I like Frankie.  Some days I find him so annoying.  I think he made a bad move last week in getting his BFF Zach evicted.  He is a little full of himself at times but has played a great game.  I think he does have a chance to making it to the end. He's burned a lot of bridges so I'm not sure he will win.
Christine:  Where do I begin?  She betrayed her BFF Nicole and threw her under the bus.  She threw Donny under the bus.  She plays all sides of the house and lies, lies, lies.  She is MARRIED and flirts with Cody terribly.  I sit there with my mouth on the floor as she plays with Cody's hair or rubs his back, arm, hand, or leg.  I'm just absolutely shocked at how she acts.  I have no respect for her.  She needs to go.
Victoria:  First off.  She needs to either brush her hair, get rid of the extensions, or put it in a ponytail.  It always looks like a hot mess.  And is she even playing the game?  What exactly does she do?  All I've seen her do is sleep, stare at people, and eat.  I never see her talk to anyone.
Nicole:  I really wanted Zach to win the chance to come back in the house.  But I'm not disappointed Nicole returned.  At first I thought she was pretty naive but she tried to get Frankie out.  It cost her getting voted out but I respect her for trying to make a big move.  I don't think she will make it to the end since she is a 'return' house guest.  But I would love to see a female make it to the end!!!!

Fun facts I've found by watching Big Brother After Dark:
-The house guests eat break and bake cookies every single night.  (This could be why some look a little plumper and have lost their six packs.)
-They tend to snack more than sit down and eat a meal.  They eat very random things.
-They play a lot of pool.
-I rarely see them use their pool/hot tub.
-I haven't seen anyone work out.  (Usually there are several that really get into it.)
-They don't have a dishwasher.
-They sleep at the most random times and stay up all night.
-They can't sing.  Not that they don't have good voices but production won't let them.  Something about copyrights.
-They really have NO clue what is going on in the outside world.
-Nicole returning from the jury house has given the house guests some insight on how things work.  The jury house is a gorgeous mansion where they stay with their 'handlers' after being evicted.  They are allowed to order in and watch movies.  Of course still no communication with the outside world.
-They get a weekly stipend.  They are allowed to make special requests for food, toiletries, medicine, etc.
-Production is watching them at all times.  (I saw one crew member's reflection in a window last night.  He was watching them cook.  Freaked me out!)
-If they do something wrong, a voice comes over the loudspeaker reprimanding them.  "Victoria please clean the bathroom."  "Frankie please stop singing."  "Christine please stop talking about production."  That would be super annoying to hear all day/night.

I would love to be on Big Brother.  In my younger days I even thought about applying.  I would need to get in better physical shape. I could sit around all day talking about others and come up with ways to get people evicted.  Ummmm no problem!  In my free time I could tan, swim, and sleep.  Sounds perfect to me.  I'm not sure though I could go 3 months without talking to my family or using the Internet.  And sharing one toilet for all those people.......ummmm ewwww!

Book Review: Andy Cohen's Most Talkative

I recently just finished a book by Andy Cohen called Most Talkative.  It is about Andy's stories from the front lines of pop culture (just as it says on the book).  For those of you who don't know who Andy Cohen is, you should!!!  He is a BravoTV exec, producer, talk show host, and Real Housewives reunion host.  He hosts a daily talk show on BravoTV called Watch What Happens Live.  I'm a big fan of WWHL and have to watch it every night before I go to bed.  And yes I am a Real Housewives fan.  HUGE!  I blame Ryan and my co-worker for this.  I love seeing how the rich and famous live.  If anything else, it takes me away from my reality for an hour.

I'm getting way off track!  Back to Andy.  In his book he talks about his Jewish up bringing in St. Louis.  He shares his struggle with coming out to family and friends.  One highlight of the book is how Andy 'tricked' his idol Susan Lucci into an interview for a homework assignment.  We learn about his college years and studying aboard.  How he got started in the journalism business at CBS and finally landing at BravoTV.  We get a look into how the Housewives shows started and still continue to be a HUGE, HUGE, HUGE success.

Andy's book is a very easy read.  I enjoyed reading it and learning more about his background.  Made me love him just a little more.  I am absolutely, positively sure we would be BFFs if we ever met.  (Hello SJP is his BFF!  Mom, SJP=Sarah Jessica Parker.) 

Need another reason to love Andy?  He rescued this adorable guy, who he calls Wacha.  Wacha is spoiled (just like he should be.)  This pup leads a more glamorous life then me.  Trips to the Hamptons, rides on helicopters, brunch in the city, and a regular guest on WWHL.  What a lucky pooch :-)

High Five for Friday

I'm linking up with The Lauren Elizabeth for High Five for Friday.

1.  OITNB.  Well I made it through the first 12 episodes.  (One more to go!)  Don't worry I didn't watch them all at once.  Although I was very, very tempted.  Lee and I had a viewing party last Friday night.  (By party I mean me, Lee, and Dipstick.  That is all we need to have a good time!)  We got food from Maxine's Chicken and Waffles.  It was super yummy!

Chicken, catfish, fried green tomatoes, grits, fried cornbread.  (Not shown waffle.)  We stuffed ourselves.

Lee and I watched 6 episodes on Friday night.  Only stayed up until 1am.  That wasn't too bad.  The next day we watched 2 and on Sunday I watched 4 episodes by myself.  I kind of spread it out over the weekend.  We are going to have a finale watching party together hopefully soon.  I promised Lee I wouldn't watch the last one without him.  Since he kindly shares Netflix with me, he would know if I did.  I've been good so far!

Season 2

 2.  As if we didn't have enough to eat that night, we had to have a frozen yogurt break.  It is kind of the new craze in our lives.  Not that it hasn't been around forever.  (Remember TCBY?)  Yogulatte is not too far away from where Lee lives.  The staff at the Yogulatte in SoBro are so nice and friendly.

3.  As I have mentioned before I am on the hunt for a new place to live.  (My lease is up next April.)  One reason is because I want to be able to have a nice outdoor space.  For now I have to grill my steak inside on my George Foreman grill.  I wish you could have smelled this!  Just call me Bill (my Dad).  He has to have his steak dinner every Saturday night.

4.  Thursday was the annual Strawberry Festival on the circle in Indianapolis.  My co-worker and I went.  It is not too far from where we work.  The pictures are courtesy of DD because I did not have my act together.  There is nothing better than a Strawberry Festival.  For $7 you can get a biscuit, ice cream, strawberries, and whip cream.  HEAVEN!

This was DD's.  I dropped mine on the ground (just call me Grace!) and it didn't look so pretty.  Luckily the lid didn't pop open.

5.  If you follow me on social media, you know that I won a major award!!!  (Name that movie.  Give up?  A Christmas Story.)  I am a faithful reader of Living in Yellow Blog.  She had a fellow blogger hosting a giveaway and I won!  Thank you Lindsay!

It is like she knew I loved pink.  Beach towel, beach bag, sunscreen, lip balm, and delicious Malibu pineapple drink.

What I'm Watchin Wednesday

It is no lie that I am a HUGE TV fan.  My DVR is full of season passes.  I thought it might be fun to share with you a show each week that I would recommend.  These opinions are my own.

Sometimes I record the Today Show and happened to catch Jessica St. Clair and Lennon Parham on with Kathie Lee and Hoda.  I remember Jessica and Lennon from a short lived TV series called Best Friends Forever.  They were on promoting their new comedy on USA Network called Playing House.  They had great chemistry together in BFF and I was already laughing at their interview with Kathie Lee and Hoda.  I immediately added Playing House on my DVR.

Emma (Jessica St. Clair) and Maggie (Lennon Parham) are childhood best friends.  Emma has a very important career and lives in China.  Maggie still lives in their hometown and is extremely pregnant.  During her baby shower she discovers that her husband is having an online affair with a husky, German woman.  Devastated Maggie doesn't know what to do about her crumbling marriage.  Emma is being called back to China to give a big presentation.  Emma has to choose.  Leave behind her pregnant best friend who needs her now more than ever or lose her job?  Emma decides to give up her career and help Maggie raise this child.  Because isn't that what best friends do?

The second episode really dives into to some Lucy and Ethel shenanigans.  They become friends with Jessica's high school flame Mark (Keegan-Michael Key) and his wife Tina (Lindsay Sloane).  Emma and Maggie gave Tina the nickname Bird Bones in high school because she has a condition in which her bones break easily.  Not only is Tina sweet but she is the perfect loving wife.  This drives the girls to find some fault in her character.  After having brunch at Tina's they can't find a single thing wrong with her perfect house or perfect life.  (The girls accidentally turn on the master bath shower and get soaked.  They end up wearing bath robes the whole episode.)  In the end Tina comes clean and says she is a hoarder.  She can't stop buying things from QVC and has a closet full of goodies.  She also suffers from a Cadbury Egg addiction.  The girls help her clean out the closet and decide Tina really isn't that bad.

Playing House airs on the USA Network every Tuesday at 10/9C.

Have I not mentioned my T-Rex arms before?  Made me love this show even more!
