High Five for Friday

Happy Friday to you!  I hope you all had a wonderful week.  Can you believe Christmas is just 2 weeks away?  The time flies between Thanksgiving and Christmas.  I have a lot to catch you up on, so here goes.

1.  Thanksgiving.  How was yours Megan, you ask?  It was a real kick in the pants.  Cars dying, sickness, not everyone able to make the big feast...............the list goes on and on.  It wasn't anyone's fault.  Just the way things happen sometimes.  Mom had a terrible stomach bug pretty much all weekend.  We delayed Thanksgiving to Friday hoping she would feel like eating some.  Which she did but got sick again on Saturday.  So I spent the whole weekend at home.  I did get caught up on some sleep.  I got a little bit of time with the nieces so it wasn't all bad.  I am noticing a trend I do not care for.  Me doing most of the cooking.  (Mom does help.  Dad peeled potatoes.)  It is just exhausting and then no one wants to do the dishes.  Family can we PLEASE go out next year?!

I was so proud of my bird.  I take great pride in my work.
Our table.  So thankful.
This lil miss took great interest in helping me cook.  She did great with the pecan pie.  I was thrilled!!!

Sometimes you fall asleep before dinner is served.

The slumber party that did not happen.  The one on the left wouldn't lay down and had to go in the pack and play to sleep.  The one on the right joined me in my bed and literally climbed my back ALL NIGHT LONG!  She's a nut!

2.  Poor Baby K's birthday fell on Thanksgiving.  As a fellow holiday birthday girl, I wanted to make it special for her.  Mom ordered her an adorable cake.  (Grandpa picked it up and took all the credit.)  We had decorations and presents as well.  She made out like a fat pig........Peppa the Pig!  It is a cute show the girls are in to.  All the toys were Peppa and the cake and decorations were Bubble Guppies (another TV show.) Baby K was SOOOOO cute when we sang and gave her the cake.

Big sister comes to help!
My Grandma Carr always gave the non birthday sibling a gift to me and my brother growing up.  So of course Big Sister needed a Peppa the Pig.
CAKE!!!!!!!!
Happy Birthday to you!
Honey I gave her a big piece and let me tell you.  She ate almost all of it.  Of course she only had a roll for dinner.  It is tuff being 2!
3.  If you follow me on any of the social media sites, you know I am Martha Stewart's protege.  I had my house decorated for the holidays before I left for Thanksgiving.  I got my parents done and helped my friend Lee do his.  I LOVE to do it.  Here is some of my work.  I will do a full blog overview in the future of all my Christmas decor.

We three trees................These are the 3 I did.  Mine is on the far left.  It takes about 3-4 hours to do.  9 strands of lights and tons of ornaments.  If you didn't know I love the color pink because it just makes me happy.  Mom and Dad's is in the middle.  And Lee's is on the right.
Miss Bailey under the tree.  It is her first Carr Christmas!!

4.  I like to eat.  I like to eat out.  This week I tried 2 new restaurants.  The first one is King Ribs BBQ.  My co-worker and I went for lunch.  Rib Tips special for just $8.68.  I am drooling just looking at these pictures again.

Rib tips with potato salad and coleslaw.

The second place I tried was Harry and Izzy's.  For those of you local to Indy, you know this is a spin-off of the famous St. Elmo's Steakhouse.  I went for a friend's birthday.

So now I am not going to be eating until the holidays after this delicious week of food.  And my wallet is quite empty!!!  Tis the season!

5.  And because he is already mad at me for posting this picture on social media, I am going to share here.  My Dad and his love.  Bailey.  She ADORES him.  And he's just a cranky, old man.  I guess he has a thing for blondes.  Because every blonde dog we have ever had, loved him the best.  Sometimes Bailey is the only one who likes him.................I kid!!!!  Like I said he's a cranky, old man.

Have a wonderful weekend!!!

High Five for Friday

Hey y'all!  TGIF!  Hope you all survived the week.  I am looking forward to the weekend to re-charge.  Can you believe Thanksgiving is just 2 weeks away?

1.  Veterans day.  One of my biggest regrets in life is never joining the armed forces.  What you say?  That is right.  I wish I would have joined straight out of high school.  Get my education paid for and serve my country.  It was never presented to me as a youngster that it was something I could do.  I see all the benefits now and wish I would have done things differently.  My Dad always dreamed of my brother joining the army, but maybe he should have worked on me.  Who knows?

I celebrate all the members of my family that have served.  Dad was army, Maternal Grandpa was navy, Aunt - navy, and many more down the line.  Dad says I could be a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution.  Pretty cool.
Thank you to the past and present who have fought for our country. Especially my Dad Staff Sergeant William C. Carr (Army, Vietnam War), my Aunt Nancy Carr (Navy), and my Grandpa Lt. Donald Lagle (Navy, WWII).  Dad on left, Grandpa on right.

2.  Trick or treating with the nieces was so COOL!  My brother and sister in law live in a suburb of Cleveland.  Their neighborhood goes all out.  Hayrides, hot chocolate, candy, candy, candy, awesome decorations, and even one neighbor has a full bar.  I mean it was everything my Halloween dreams are made of.  I had so much fun!  We walked the girls around the neighborhood.  Then Kylie and I sat outside and passed out candy.  We may or may not have been running some quality control on the candy.........you know........... eating it.  (Whoops!)  We had to make sure it wasn't bad.  #auntlife

Do you know how hard it is to take a good picture of an almost 2 year old?  LOL.  We have Elsa from Frozen on the left.  Minnie Mouse on the right.  Minnie was more interested in holding all her candy than putting it in her bucket.

3.  I got to keep Baby K for several days before Halloween.  (Check out our fun doings, here.)  Big sister K got to come home with us Saturday-Sunday.  It was so nice spending some time with her.  I don't get to see her as much because she is now a big bad kindergartner.  I love getting to be goofy with her and seeing her show us all she has learned in school.  She is starting to recognize words and write them.  Can we just keep her at this age?

We may or may not have made 10 funny videos of her dancing and jumping around.  Some of them in slo-mo.  They were so funny we both were on the floor laughing.

Going to lunch after church.  I am sorry but she looks at least 10 years old here.
Modeling her new dress from Target.  It is for emergencies when she stays at Gammy and Grandpa's and needs a good church dress.  LOL.
4.  Well ladies and gentlemen.  My Dad went and did it again.  He got ANOTHER hole in one!!!!  (Read all about the first hole in one here.)  This time he was at his home course Eagle Creek in Norwalk, Ohio.  As you can tell from the picture, the course has even been winterized.  That didn't stop the ole man!  His golfing buddies were more excited than him.  Congrats Daddio!

Second hole in one at the ripe age of 72.

5.  Last weekend I got to dog-sit for a friend.  Meet Ori!!  She is part beagle/part pug.  We had such a good time.  She is one of the most loving dogs I have ever met.  She is so easy going and cuddly, too.  We got along great.  Made me think I really should start a pet sitting business.  I love animals and to me it isn't work.  So if you ever need a pet sitter or know someone who does in the Indy area, let me know.  Be warned.  I like to spoil them terribly.

Ori trying to figure out how she can climb into my lap and give me some kisses.

High Five for Friday

Happy Friday!  Thanks for stopping by and checking out my High Five for Friday.

1.  I am extremely nervous and excited for this upcoming weekend.  I am going tent camping for the first time with Lee.  Eeeeeck!  (Yes you are reading that right.  First time.)  My parents are not the outdoorsy kind (unless you count playing golf and mowing the yard.)  I may have slept in a tent one time at Church Camp but I'm not counting that.  It was just one night and I was steps away from the cabin.  Don't get me wrong I have gone 'camping' before.  Like in a cabin, with electricity and running water.  Even spent a week in Canada doing so.  (Had a wonderful time but came home with pneumonia.  That's a story for another day.)  I do love the great outdoors.

Canada 2008.  Janelle, Me, Lee, and Joel.

So why start camping now?  Well we wanted to go someplace affordable and different.  For me I wanted a beach.  And Lee was open to any suggestions.  I had heard about the Indiana Dunes but never been there before.  (Northern Indiana is kind of a mystery to me.  Never spent any real time in the 'Region' or there a bouts.)  We both started researching and decided upon Indiana Dunes State Park.  We found a campsite available and it was booked.  Lee has been camping lots before so we have a good start on supplies.  All I really had to buy was a blow up bed (remember I have a bad back) and a chair.  Saturday we are going to get all our supplies together and do a little shopping.  I have already mapped out things and made several packing lists.  (Those event planner skills always coming in handy.)
Don't you just love a good list?!

Bless Lee's heart, he's agreed to take this girly, city girl into the great outdoors.  I hope he does realize I will just be sitting back relaxing in my pink camping chair, watching him do all the work.  (Ha-ha, I kid!)  I am looking forward to going off the grid and relaxing on the beach.  Wish me luck!  3 nights and 4 days of camping.  Please don't let it rain.  Please let the bathrooms be clean.

2.  My kit cats have been extra cute this week.  Don't ya think?

Callie
Excuse me Baby Kitty.  That is my drink!

Diva Sabrina

She loves a good sunbath.
3. On Thursday I won a $10 Starbucks and $10 Barnes and Noble gift cards from fellow bloggers September Farm and Tealaholic.  I spent the Starbucks one right away ;-)

I won a major award!!!!!!

Iced White Chocolate Mocha.  Ummm I was bouncing off the walls the rest of the day.

4.  If you remember, last week I mentioned my adorable niece is on a summer swim team.  Mom was able to go to a meet this week and watch her swim.  Isn't she the cutest?!

Seeing her swim is bringing back memories of my days on the swim team.  I found an old 'yearbook' and thought I would share some pictures of me and my brother Andy.  1989.  I was 9.  Andy just turned 7.  #babies

Newburgh, Indiana
The team.  Andy is bottom right.  I'm in the middle in the back.  Just look for the bangs and big eyes.
Terrible picture but that is Andy in the middle.

That is me.  I was a killer diver and flip turner.  Self taught.

5.  Some of my family members were involved in a car accident earlier this week.  Hit a deer.  This isn't a high of the week, but the fact that they are all ok IS.  Did a lot of damage to the car and could have been much worse.  Luckily the driver attended Megan's Driving School back when she was a teenager, so she knew what to do ;-)  All kidding aside I am so grateful everyone is okay.
