Restaurant Review: Marco's Restaurant Lounge

I want to share with you a little hidden gem in Indianapolis.  This restaurant by far my favorite here in the city.  And it just so happens to be in my neighborhood.  It is called Marco's.  It is on the little higher end of the budget but it is totally worth the treat.  I got the chance to eat there 2 times in October.  Once with Mom and once with my friends.  I wanted to share with you a little about the restaurant.  Enough of my chit chat.  Let's get on to the food!!!

So many delicious things to choose from.  One thing I didn't get a picture of was the calamari.  It is so good, I didn't have time to snap a picture.

French onion soup

Wedge salad.  I dream about this salad weeks after eating it.  It is that GOOD!

Brie stuffed chicken.  I am telling you.  That sauce.  Literally melts in your mouth.

Moscato.  So fruity and sweet.

You will always leave Marco's stuffed.  With most meals you get a soup and salad.  It is so worth the money.  A lot of us locals know about Marco's and like to frequent there. I can tell you both times I was there on a Saturday and it filled up fast.  So I definitely suggest making a reservation.

They do offer some specials throughout the week.  Monday $5-6 martinis, Tuesday 6oz. filet dinner for $11.95, Wednesday half off wine bottles, Thursday half off their special martini list.  My favorite is to go on Saturday for a big juicy prime rib.  One of these days, I would love to try their lunch menu.  It is a little cheaper and has some great options.  

As a former hospitality employee, the one thing that truly makes me love Marco's is the staff.  Since I have been going here, the staff has not changed.  Which means they don't have a lot of turnover and they treat their staff right.  They work together and seem to have fun doing it.  Whatever they are doing, it is working.

Apartment Tour

So I moved back at the end of April.  I left downtown city life for a more quiet, calmer life in the Broad Ripple greater area of Indy.  (Broad Ripple is kind of a cool, hip area.  Lots of local restaurants and bars.)  This post is loonnnggg over due.  I am blaming some minor health issues and lack of motivation to clean my apartment to picture worthy standards.  Also I just recently hung the pictures on my walls.  Moving is hard, okay?!  My Mom and niece came to visit last weekend.  That gave me motivation to clean and get everything perfect.

Before I reveal my new digs, there are a few things you should know first.  I like pink.  I also like the Eiffel Tower.  (Yes I have been there.)  I have 2 cats.  They have lots of belongings.  I like pink.  My furniture doesn't match.  It is kind of a hodge podge of things I have gotten over the years or inherited.  But it works for me.

This could be a dining room area.  I got rid of my dining room table several years ago.  I found I didn't use it.

Kitchen.  At first I thought this kitchen would never work.  But it is actually the perfect size.  To the left I have a HUGE pantry.  I have been able to fit everything in here.

Bedroom.  That is Callie on the bed.  Sabrina is under the bed.  They were scared because I had just vacuumed.

This concludes the tour.  For my safety, I'm not going to reveal the name of my new complex.  But if you want to private message me, I would be happy to share.  I really love my new place.  They have great amenities.

So....where have you been?

I have written, and re-written this blog post several times in my head.  I even started writing it on here and then deleted it.  I over think things WAY too much.  So let me just get down to business.

Blog posts are going to be a little thin over the next couple of months.  When I started this blog, I really wanted it to grow.  And it has done very well.  I really enjoy writing and it is a release for me.  For the next several months though, I won't be writing as much as I would like.  But after the first of the year, GAME ON!  I will be coming back at you full force.

So I'm being pretty vague, eh?  I promise you my life is not that exciting.  I am taking a class this semester and it pretty much eats up all my free time.  But I'm cool with that.  I've also had some health issues (nothing too major).  For right now everything is good on that front (*knock on wood).  But my body is fighting back and I need to listen to it.

When I am not studying and worrying about myself...............I like to focus all my attention on my family.  Especially my nieces.  My heart overflows with so much love for them.  Here are some pictures of when they came to Indy a couple of weeks ago to visit little ole me.  We went to the Indianapolis Zoo.

This double stroller is AH-MAZING!  Stacey just whips it in and out.  It has all these cool places to store things.  Plenty of cup holders.  The kids can lay down or sit up.  Pull a shade over them.  I mean it does everything but change a diaper.  And people get out of your way when you have a stroller!

When you have your best dress on, you have to run through the splash pad.  (It was a super hot day!)  Aunt Meggie may have ran through a little bit, too.

I really like the Zebra.  Their stripes are so perfect!

All K#1 wanted to see were the elephants.  After we saw them she then announced we could leave.  We had only been there about 30 mins.  Silly girl!

Poor Baby K.  She was tired.  She had a little stomach bug all weekend.  But you would never know it.  She is the happiest little thing ever.

Aunt Sally came to the Zoo, too!  It was her first time meeting Baby K.  K#2 went straight for her jewelry.

In the dolphin splash zone, waiting for the show to start.  I was not upset I had to sit there.  Secretly I loved it.  K#1 was mad we only got splashed once.  He-he!

A big THANK YOU to my SIL, Stacey.  She drove everyone to Indy and back.  (I'm sure she had lots of fun with her chatty Mother in law and daughter.....hehe.)  Not only that but traveling with 2 young girls is not easy.  It takes a lot and it was no vacation for her.  She is just an amazing mother!  Stacey, thank you so much!!!!  I love you!!!

High Five for Friday

Hey there!  Thanks for stopping by.  I did it!  I wrote 5 blog posts this week.  And I'm tired........LOL.  I loved every minute of it.  Hopefully I am getting better and better at this.  I feel like I am!  (I've improved on my run-on sentences.......at least I think I have.........maybe not........Mom have I?........Ha-Ha)  Here are my highlights from the week.

1.  I know you missed me posting pictures of my nieces.  Gammy got to babysit them last weekend and sent me lots of fun pictures.  I even got to Facetime.  They are just the cutest!

2.  My cousin Dave shared this picture of my great grandparents on Facebook.  They would have celebrated their 100th wedding anniversary this week.  WOW!  They went by E.O. (Edward Oliver) and Mamie (Mildred Josephine).  Dave is the historian of the family and I love all his pictures and stories.  I really enjoy learning about my family before me.

3.  So I went and did it again.  I went to the Indiana State Fair on Tuesday.  It was $2 Tuesday.  $2 to get in and $2 food specials.  Let me tell you, what a great day!!!  Here are some of the highlights from my trip.

Roasted corn on the cob.  (I ended up with most of it on my shirt.)  There is more than corn in Indiana.....

4.  Friday night I stepped out of my comfort zone.  I went out with some girls to 8 Seconds Saloon.  It is a local country bar.  (It reminds me of The Neon Cactus at Purdue.)  They had a battle of the bands competition going on so it was packed.  I had a really fun time helping one of the girls celebrate her 40th birthday.  The music was great and nice to get out of my apt.  (I'm such a homebody.)
